You Check Your Tires During the Winter, so why not Check Your Sidewalk?

It’s no secret. The weather right now is cold, especially in Dallas and Ft. Worth.

When it gets this cold outside, you usually have to refill air in your car tires, right?

This is because the air shrinks inside the tires, making you add more to re-establish good tire pressure. Well, your sidewalk goes through the same transformation, just over the course of months or years.

The sidewalk expands and contracts, causing it to break, fault, and crumble over many years. Even worse, the ground under your FW sidewalk may need to be evaluated as well, to fix the literal root of the problem.

Sounds like a lot to juggle. Luckily, NorTex specializes in fixing both the sidewalk in need of repair, as well as the ground underneath it. This is what sets us apart from other sidewalk and concrete repair companies: we work hard and smart.

NorTex repairs the following all across Dallas, Fort Worth, and Arlington:

-Longitudinal Joint Faulting Sidewalks
-Transverse Joint Faulting Sidewalks
-Ponding Sidewalk Water
-Uneven Sidewalks

But we go further than that:

We Won’t Replace The Driveway!

When those car tires deflate, you don’t buy new tires. So why would you buy new concrete for your driveway?

If your contractor will be using a cement truck, give us a call instead. There’s no need to toss out the baby with the bathwater. NorTex repairs Fort Worth sidewalks by fixing the ground beneath the sidewalks first, then mending the existing concrete, saving you time and money.

When we repair Dallas/Ft. Worth sidewalks, we use the following tools:

JOINT SEALANT APPLICATION

On residential and commercial sidewalk repairs, there’s almost always a need to inject sealant between sidewalk panels, and the sidewalk’s surrounding stone.

We use a handy sealant applicator that creates a tight seal that won’t leak or allow weeds to grow through. The applicator is fast, and prevents crews from having to get down on their hands and knees when they could be working on the sidewalk instead.

POLYURETHANE FOAM INJECTION

You likely drive or walk over our foam every day, without realizing it, because the foam hardens stronger than the sidewalk itself after we inject it. While only in fluid form for a short time, polyurethane foam is the state-of-the-art solution when it comes to inexpensive Dallas sidewalk repair.

This foam raises the concrete slab as we measure injection levels, putting the driveway back to a level plane. Then, we mend the concrete, good as new. This way, we fix the root of the problem, the foundation beneath the sidewalk, rather than trying to just fix the sidewalk itself. Any existing gaps or sinkholes waiting to strike get filled when the pressure from our foam is applied.

Check out our web page on polyurethane foam for a video showing how we do this.

POLYGRINDING

Sometimes two slabs of existing sidewalk aren’t going to work next to each other. But as always, we have a way to fix the issue, instead of relaying the concrete entirely new. Using polygrinding, we basically sand down sharp concrete edges or faults, making for a sidewalk that won’t cost thousands to replace, and won’t trip neighbors or customers at the same time.
